  Hi everyone

  my name is simone, I got diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. I had a mastectomy following my diagnosis and 24 limph nodes removed. I've had 6 sessions of chemotherapy and 25 session of radiation. After 6 months, I found out that cancer had come back to my other breast so I had another mastectomy.

  I just wanted to share my experience with people who have been through the same or even if you're not there yet

  Gosh that's rough Simone - after all you went through having the first surgery & treatments only to have the cancer occur in your other breast a short time later! So unfair! It's also unusual - do you have other family members with breast and/or ovarian cancer? Just wondering if there was a higher genetic risk for you?
  Have you had any reconstruction surgery? Or considering it?
  It's wonderful for you to share your experiences here - we have many ladies here who are facing treatments and are very keen to hear (or chat where possible) with others who've been though it. Please add any comments to topics in FORUM and Blogs. We'd love for you to add your thoughts and ideas. If you can, would also be terrific if you could join a chat session - we have one this evening (see post on wall).

  I know Glenys it's been really tough, I don't have any family history of any cancer which was why it was a big shock. I have had reconstructive surgery in April 2012 and now waiting for the next step which is the nipple reconstruction and removal of tissue expander to be replaced by implant

  Good the reconstruction is mostly done Simone - just need the 2nd stage surgery to happen. A couple of ladies here have recently had bilateral mastectomies and tissue expanders - I'm sure they'd love to chat with you.
  How are you feeling so far about the size/shape? - of course this is before the final implant surgery which often produces a better shape. The expanders often sit a little higher and rounder than the implants.
  Any idea when the surgery will be?
